Is Red Light Therapy just a gimmick? Not at all. Photizo devices use Photobiomodulation (PBM), a scientifically proven process. Unlike "beauty lights" found in some consumer gadgets, Photizo devices deliver medical-grade red and near-infrared light at specific wavelengths and power densities. This technology is used globally by hospitals, elite sports clinics, and veterinarians.
How often should I use my Photizo device? For most conditions, we recommend once or twice daily on the affected area. Because the device is pre-programmed to deliver the optimal dose, you simply press the button once, wait for the timed cycle to finish, and move to the next spot if necessary. Over-treating an area isn't dangerous, but it doesn't speed up healing—consistency is more important than frequency.
Does it hurt? No. Red Light Therapy is non-invasive and painless. You may feel a very slight, pleasant warming sensation in the tissue due to increased blood circulation in the area, but the light itself does not get hot.
Choosing the Right Device
What is the difference between the Pain Relief and Sport models? While both use the same high-quality LEDs, the pre-set timing (the dose) differs:
Photizo Pain Relief: Optimized for chronic, long-term conditions like arthritis or joint stiffness. It delivers a dose designed to penetrate deep into stagnant or chronically inflamed areas.
Photizo Sport: Tailored for acute injuries, such as muscle tears, ligament strains, and post-workout recovery. It focuses on rapid cellular repair for active tissue.
Can I use the Vetcare model on myself? Technically, the light technology is identical across the range. However, the Vetcare unit is legally and regulatorily cleared for animal use. For human health conditions, we strongly recommend using the Pain Relief or Sport models, as they are CE-marked for human therapeutic use.
How long do the LEDs last? The high-power LEDs used in Photizo devices are incredibly durable and are rated for many thousands of hours of use. Under normal household or clinic conditions, the light source is likely to last the lifetime of the device.
Safety & Usage
Are there any side effects? Red Light Therapy is drug-free and has no known major side effects. However, we recommend avoiding direct eye exposure to the light. If you are pregnant, have cancer, or use light-sensitive medication, please consult your doctor before starting treatment.
Can I use Photizo if I have a metal implant or pacemaker? Yes. Unlike some heat-based or electrical therapies (like TENS or ultrasound), Red Light Therapy does not interfere with metal implants or pacemakers, making it a safe alternative for post-surgical recovery.
